Gardeners' Update

August 2010

It's been a busy season.  A very successul June Open Day with over 400 visitors to the garden was followed by an outdoor evening theatrical performance by the vibrant Principal Theatre Company.  Pimms and picnics were the order of the day for "The Taming of the Shrew" by William Shakespeare.  Then in July the garden was entered for the London Garden Society's Small Private Squares Competition.  As always we have high hopes, although the growing season was very late this year, with camellias and columbines flowering in July.

White daisies announced their cheerful presence at the entrances and container choices included Dichondra 'Silver Falls' and those old favourites, the Bizzy Lizzies.  And a lovely Cercis canadensis 'Forest Pansy' sapling is already beginning to show its incredible foliage.

In September the bulbs will arrive and I am hoping to repeat the lovely tulip 'Gander's Overture' at the East entrance, with its buttercream petals striated with a hint of green and red.  Do come and take a look.
