The original Halkin Street Garden was an addition to the Belgravia Estate which was laid out in about 1915 by the Estate Surveyor, Edmund Wimperis. It replaced earlier stables and mews which had been built on the site and contained a pool and a fountain as its central focus. During the 1930s the lawn was said to have been used as a tennis court by Edward VIII and Mrs Simpson.
The garden was truncated in the 1980s when part of it was used to build to build offices and glasshouse space by Grosvenor's Gardens Department, but was returned to its original size in 2008 following the development of Montrose Place when the entire garden was re-landscaped. The new garden has incorporated the original fountain which has been relocated to its north wall.
