February 2011
A pleasing result was achieved in the London Garden Society competition in June with the garden receiving a ‘High Commendation’ in its first year of entry. Even so, there is still much to be done and improvements to be made.
Before Christmas new planting was introduced to replace two persistently mildewed species. Amongst the newcomers are the statuesque Cardoon (Cynara Cardunclus) and the Bellflower ‘Telham Beauty’.
Spring bulbs to anticipate include contrasting tulips, the dusky purple ‘Havran’ and the citrus bright ‘Orange Emperor’. These are earlier types than last year’s tulips which bloomed late in the season.
